The Benal Beach complex is situated in Benalmadena costa. The area of Benalmadena is separated into three distinct parts. Benalmadena costa, the part right on the coast where Benal Beach is situated. Benalmadena Pueblo, which is situated inland about 10 minutes drive and consists of a beautiful white walled village, and finally Arroyo de la Miel, which is situated just on the opposite side of La Paloma park, this is a nice market town with various attractions including Tivoli World. (an amusement park open until 3am in summer) There is also a cable car ride with spectacular views over the coast. Benalmadena marina is only a 10 minute stroll away along the sea front, this is an award winning marina with over 1000 berths, many nice shops, cafes & restaurants. Near to the marina along the main road is 24 hour square, an area for all night partying and dancing. This is where all the young hang out at night. La Paloma park is a beautiful park with a lake that is home to ducks, terrapins. There are also chickens, peacocks & rabbits running wild in the park. Two aviaries, an enclosure with emu's, and ostrich, a deer enclosure, a cactus garden, and also several snack bars. (well worth a visit, kids & adults alike love it.) Just further along from the park is the Selwo marina , with dolpinarium, penguin enclosure, tucans, parrots & sea lions. |
There are various ways of getting to Benal Beach from the airport at Malaga. You can hire a taxi from just outside the arrivals hall. This will probably cost you somewhere in the region of 18-22€ about £16. Always ask how much before getting in as some drivers will try it on. There is also a bus that leaves from the right of the arrivals hall. This is probably quite cheap but will also take some time. My own favoured way is to go right to the end of the arrivals hall and get the lift up one floor. Exit this terminal, as you come outside the long stay car park is facing you. Turn right and keep walking until you come to a bus stop, cross over and you will come to a footbridge over the main road, follow this to the end and there is a train station with automatic ticket machine. The machine is easy to use : - if you press the button labelled "idioma" the language will change. Buy two single (sencillo) tickets to Arroyo. Once on the train the next stop is displayed. Get off at Arroyo go up the escalator and to the right is a taxi rank. Get a taxi for Benal Beach. Total cost last time I did this was 2.30€ for two train tickets and then 4.50€ in the taxi a total of approx 7€ or just less than a fiver!! (Please note however that the trains run about every 30 mins. but only run until about 22.55pm)
